RENTALEXPRESS - Sign-In Kiosk

Configure a Group Policy to put the sign-in machines into a Kiosk mode.  This is an Active Directory domain, but for computers that aren’t a member of a Windows Domain this can also be done via Local Group Policy on stand-alone PC’s.

Basically, you configure a policy for Custom User Interface, and point it to %ProgramFiles%\AxS\AxSRentalSignIn.exe – but this needs to be in C:\Program Files\AxS.  On my 64-bit machines the app was default installed into C:\Program Files (x86)\AxS\, so I just copied the AxS folder into C:\Program Files\ on those.

This will have the effect of running the app directly instead of the normal Windows Explorer user interface, and basically lock down all functions to only the app – no desktop, no start menu, etc…

Then tie that Group Policy to the specific user ‘kiosk’ – you can still log in normally with other accounts if needed, only the ‘kiosk’ user will be locked down.
